Youth Pastor Job Description

The youth pastor will direct and oversee all phases of the youth ministry including; outreach, education, activities, service opportunities, Falls Creek as well as the weekly youth worship service on Wednesday evenings. The youth pastor’s primary area of ministry is to the middle school and high school age students of Watonga. This ministry is to be an integral part of and support to the total ministry objectives of First Baptist Church Watonga.

Supervisor: The youth pastor is supervised by and accountable to the pastor.


Qualifications/Skills Required

  • Personal commitment to Christ, His Church, and Kingdom Concerns.
  • Minimum education requirement is a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Must demonstrate and show evidence of a calling by God to ministry.
  • A knowledge and understanding of their individual spiritual gifts, one of which must be the ability to teach.
  • Be able to plan and administer youth ministry budget.
  • No criminal record.



  1. Develop and implement a youth ministry philosophy to guide and direct the direction and programming of the youth ministry. This would include evaluating existing programs and events to gauge effectiveness as well as establishing new programs and events as needed.
  2. Recruit new youth workers (Sunday school and Wednesday nights) as needed also provide training for youth workers throughout the year.
  3. Provide guidance and spiritual direction to students both as a group and on an individual basis.
  4. Participate in outreach and discipleship ministry to students.
  5. Lead midweek Bible study for teens.
  6. Plan, organize and lead week of summer camp (Falls Creek) each year as well as other youth trips (mission trips, fun trips, etc.) as needed and as fits in overall philosophy of ministry.
  7. Develop the youth ministry budget and track expenditures throughout the year.
  8. Other jobs and tasks as assigned by the Pastor.
